Supporting LGBTQ+ Students

Joyce Row­land served in var­i­ous exec­u­tive roles at Sem­pra Ener­gy from 1998 to 2019, includ­ing Senior Vice Pres­i­dent, Chief Cul­ture Offi­cer, Chief Human Resources Offi­cer, and Chief Admin­is­tra­tive Offi­cer. Pri­or to this, she was Vice Pres­i­dent of Human Resources at Pacif­ic Enter­pris­es from 1995 to 1998. Her career at South­ern Cal­i­for­nia Gas Com­pa­ny spanned from 1980 to 1998, where she held key posi­tions such as Man­ag­er of Labor Rela­tions, Man­ag­er of Con­sumer Affairs, and Com­mu­ni­ty Involve­ment Man­ag­er.

Row­land is a guber­na­to­r­i­al appointee to the 22nd DAA board which gov­erns the Del Mar Fair­grounds and affil­i­at­ed prop­er­ties. She has also served as Pres­i­dent of the Equal­i­ty Cal­i­for­nia Insti­tute and the San Diego LGBTQ Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­ter and is a del­e­gate to the AKC for the Aus­tralian Cat­tle Dog Club of Amer­i­ca.

She holds an MBA with a con­cen­tra­tion in Indus­tri­al Rela­tions and a bachelor’s degree in Psy­chol­o­gy (sum­ma cum laude and Phi Beta Kap­pa) from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Cal­i­for­nia, Los Ange­les. Addi­tion­al­ly, she com­plet­ed the exec­u­tive edu­ca­tion pro­gram at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Michi­gan.
