Transforming

students’ lives.

Breaking

Barriers

Meeting the need

NRCF reduces educational disparities for those who have faced barriers related to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, and is open to all applicants and allies who support these principles.

Protecting your privacy

Scholarships will be granted to eligible students regardless of the public nature of their sexual identity (i.e., whether they are “in” or “out” of the closet).

Statewide to national

Starting in California, the fund will grow to be a national source of financial aid for students to attend the technical school, college, or university of their choosing.

Support where it’s needed most

The fund will prioritize underserved regions, including Southern and Central California, and the Southern United States.

Strong foundation

NRCF is powered by San Diego Foundation, one of the largest community foundations in the U.S. and a prolific provider of scholarships for students with financial need.

In establishing NRCF, we hope to lessen the financial burden for many young people, including those still burdened by the secrecy of remaining in the closet.
Mark A. Stuart, CFREPresident & CEO, San Diego Foundation
