Meeting the need

LGBTQ+ students face unique challenges — social acceptance, mental health issues, family rejection — that hinder their ability to afford college.

Protecting your privacy

Scholarships will be granted to eligible students regardless of the public nature of a student’s sexual identity (i.e., whether “in” or “out” of the closet).

Statewide to national

Starting in California, the fund will grow to be a national source of financial aid for LGBTQ+ students to attend the technical school, college, or university of their choosing.

Support where it’s needed most

The fund will prioritize underserved regions, including southern and central California, and the southern United States.

Strong foundation

NRCF is powered by San Diego Foundation, one of the largest community foundations in the U.S. and a prolific provider of scholarships for students with financial need.

In establishing NRCF, we hope to lessen the financial burden for those young people still burdened by the secrecy of remaining in the closet.
Mark A. Stuart, CFREPresident & CEO, San Diego Foundation
